Getting Started with WordPress: A Beginner’s Guide
Whether you’re starting a blog, launching an online store, or creating a website for your small business, WordPress is one of the easiest and most flexible platforms to use. This small guide walks you through the basics of setting up your WordPress site and editing content.

01. Installing WordPress
WordPress can be installed through Web Host Wizards control panel. You can follow the first two steps in this guide to get started - https://webhostwizards.com.au/whw-control-panel-docs/

02. Setting Up WordPress
A WordPress theme defines a website's design and layout, offering customizable templates and styles without needing to code. You can find the Astra WordPress theme by going to your WordPress Dashboard > Appearance> Themes > Add New Themes.
You can see the Astra theme is one of the first themes displayed in the repository.
Once the Astra theme is installed, the dashboard will now give you the option to 'choose a starter template'. Click this button and find a design that suits your project and website requirements.
03. Drag and Drop Page Builders
You can install the 'Elementor' plugin for free. This powerful tool allows you to use a drag-and-drop editor, making it much easier and faster to build out a professional-looking website with customizable designs and layouts tailored to your needs.
Web Host Wizards' support for email is limited. We utilize MXroute as our email partner. All emails pass through MXroute filters when sending and receiving mail. For third-party mail client connections, such as Gmail and Outlook, we can assist with all records. However, there is little we can do if all records are correct and mail is not sending to certain domains/email accounts or if the mail software is rejecting our inputs and server connection.
04. Building your WordPress Website
You can upload logos/images/videos to the media library, simply by drag and dropping the media from your computer. The media library can be found by navigating to WordPress Dashboard > Media.
You can find the customizer by navigating to WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Customizer
Header
The header refers to the top menu of the website. This is where the logo and menu is displayed.
Footer
The footer refers to the bottom menu of the website. This is where the logo, menu and other information like contact details is displayed.
You can create and edit pages by going to the WordPress Dashboard > Pages. Then, hover your mouse over the page you want to edit and click the 'Edit' button.
This will bring up the Gutenberg Page Builder.

05. Plugins
WordPress plugins allow you to add specific functionality to your WordPress website. For example, if you want a contact form on your website, you can find and install a contact form plugin.
You can find the plugin repository by navigating to the WordPress Dashboard > Plugins
There are a few choices for contact form plugins.
We recommend the 'Forminator' plugin.
